Education Requirement
To become a registered trainee appraiser, applicants must complete 100 hours of education. Our school offers 85 hours of coursework divided between 3 classes: 30-hour Basic Appraisal Principles, 30-hour Basic Appraisal Procedures, and 25-hour Residential Site Valuation and Cost Approach.
A 15 hour USPAP (Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice) course must be taken with a different provider. You can search for a local provider on The Appraisal Foundation website.

Requirements for Licensure
To be eligible for a Registered Trainee Appraiser license, the state of Florida requires you to...
- be at least 18 years of age.
- hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- receive approval of your state application.
- complete 100 classroom hours of approved courses.
- You do not need to be a Florida resident.
State Application and Testing Process
To become licensed as a Registered Trainee Appraiser, you must do the following:
- Complete 100 Classroom Hours of Approved Courses
- - Completion slips are issued upon completion of a course. You must include your completion slips for all 100 hours of education with your state application.
    
    You must attend every hour of class for the course to be considered complete.
- Fill Out State Application
- - You can submit the application in two ways:
    
    Online - Department of Business and Professional Regulation website
    
    Mail - Download and print the application
    
    The application fee paid to the state is $230.00
    
    You must submit evidence of successful completion of the required education with your application. It will take 6-8 weeks on average for the state to process and approve your application.

    You must submit your fingerprints electronically before your application can be approved.
