What are the requirements for a Florida real estate sales associate license?

  • be at least 18 years of age
  • have high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

Afterwards, you should schedule an appointment for electronic fingerprinting with Pearson VUE.
- If you wish to submit your application by mail you should download and print it from the DBPR website.
It will take 6-8 weeks on average for the state to process and approve your application. You may check on your status from our website.
Once approved you may schedule to sit for the state exam with Pearson VUE online or by calling 1-888-204-6289.

What are the fees for the license, fingerprinting and exam?
- The state application fee is $105.00

Candidates will receive grades immediately at the test location

What is the license renewal period? And are there continuing education requirements to keep my license?
45 hours of post-licensing education is required during the first renewal period (18-24 months after passing the state exam). Subsequently your license must be renewed every 2 years by completing 14 hours of continuing education.
You can maintain an active or voluntary inactive license for life. Active sales associates are individuals whom have placed their license with a real estate firm.  These firms are generally members of one or more Realtor Associations with required fees to all active Sales Associates licensed with that firm.

What can I do with a sales associates license?
You can be involved in the listing and selling of residential, commercial, industrial property, land, business opportunities, and time-shares. You can also rent and manage real property.

How much do sales associates make in Florida?
The Bureau of Labor Statistics has more information at the site:
http://www.bls.gov/oes/current/oessrcst.htm

I have an out-of-state real estate license. Do I have to take the course?
Not necessarily. Call our administration office for a detailed explanation.
Or click here for more information.

Do you have a money back guarantee if I should fail the end-of-course-exam or State Exam?
No. It is not allowed by Florida Statutes 475.451 & 475.4511 and by the rules in Chapter 61-J2.013 of the Florida Real Estate Commission.
